How to Clean and Care for BMW Leather Seats in 3 Steps
- Step 1: Cleaning the BMW Leather Seats
- Step 2: Conditioning the BMW Leather Seats
- Step 3: Protecting the BMW Leather Seats
Step 1: Cleaning the BMW Leather Seats
Cleaning your BMW’s leather seats on a regular basis is the first step to keeping them in excellent condition.
First, use a cordless handheld vacuum to remove any visible debris from the seats, and don’t forget the gaps.
Next, use a soft, lint-free and non-scratch microfiber cloth with a mild, non-toxic BMW leather cleaner that’s bleach-free and ammonia-free to gently wipe clean all the leather surfaces. The cleaning solution should also help to remove stains or marks on the leather seats.
Then, thoroughly dry the seats with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
Step 2: Conditioning the BMW Leather Seats
After cleaning the leather seats, apply a conditioner that protects and rejuvenates the leather surface to bring back its shine. Choose a BMW leather conditioner that’s safe for high-end leather and best if it is water repellent. A good leather conditioner should restore the moisture back to the leather and give it a shiny, supple, and soft look. Use a soft microfiber cloth to gently apply the leather conditioner into the leather seats in small, circular motion. Open the window in your BMW to keep the interior well ventilated and allow the conditioner to fully absorb into the leather.
Tip: Repeat the cleaning and conditioning steps every three to six months, depending on the amount of usage and sun exposure to the car interior.
Step 3: Protecting the BMW Leather Seats
Prevention is essential in extending the lifespan of your BMW’s leather interior. Two simple things can help protect the leather interior from damage – sunshade and car seat cover.
BMW Sunshade
Universal BMW sunshade with UV protection is designed to fit the shape of your BMW’s front windshield on most BMW models. Choose sunshades made from durable, high-quality materials to keep the vehicle’s interior cool. Quality sunshade should have a radiant barrier system that effectively reflects the sunlight and offers maximum UV protection. Most universal sunshades should be easily folded down into a compact size when not in use. Sunshades not only protects your BMW’s leather seats from UV light, but it can also prevent your BMW’s dashboard, interior trims, and the things you keep in the car from damage, premature aging, and cracking.
BMW Car Seat Cover
Universal fit car seat cover is an inexpensive solution to protect your BMW’s interior. Car seat covers made of high-quality, heavy-duty polyester provides waterproof protection with non-slip, multi-layer design for added comfort and convenience. If you have pets, get the waterproof and scratch proof, pet-friendly, back seat covers for your furry pal, so both of you can enjoy the ride. See our full list of pet-friendly BMW accessories.
